this tutorial is kind of confusing, you over explain everything in the beginning(so i thought that it's for complete beginner like me) but in the middle you're like - let me copy paste those 6 nodes real quick
How do i Attach Static mesh to the defaultsceneroot?? i am using UE4.23
At the end of this video the landing animation doesn' t play at all.. Same as my project. It like from falling goes straigt to walk/run or the idle. Is any way to fix that ? My character has a big head and therees no intisipation when landing. please help an thanks in advance.
I have problems uploading files more than 100Mb. I hit the "Publish" button in git desktop, it starts to upload normally, and at some point some popup window appear saying : "The push operation includes a file which exceeds GitHub's file size restriction of 100MB. Please remove the file from history and try again." I bought a $5 GitLFS pack data, but nothing changed. Anyone could help please?
The issue at "Simple Debugging" 1:26:50, isnt it caused beacause you binded the function earlier in the constrcutor, which it shouldt. Its normal to bind functions in BeginPlay or PostInitializeComponents.
Do you know how to disable left analog stick navigation? I just wanna navigate with D-pad. Help me pls.
can someone help? UE 5.3.2: GetWorld()->GetFirstPlayerController()->PlayerCameraManager->PlayCameraShake(CamShake, 1.0f); class "APlayerCameraManager" has no member "PlayCameraShake"
Hi. Just decided to come back to learning game development, and really expected to watch your tutorials again. Do you still making them? Or life is too busy? Last video is 7 month ago, hope you are well.
Hey, welcome back to gamedev. Thanks for that, definitely gave me some energy to try to get back into things a little sooner. I had a bunch of content planned and do want to get back with some uploads soon but yeah. Life keeps happening..
how do i playtest my map with a group of people to make sure the game is ready to go public? im not sure why theres so much complications in allowing other people to help playtest before it goes live
Thanks This helped, please have more 2D enemy AI, With jump or follow in range behavior Thanks
Every time I restart UE the BP_Player Blueprint reverts back to when it was first created. I then need to add the sphere and make all the other setting changes again. Any idea on why this is not being saved? Thanks
I was using Live Compile in Visual Studio 2022 which was causing the issue. Fixed the jumping issue also.
Why not remove include CoreMinimal.h amd foward declare the StaticMeshComponent?
Thank you for these series, you explained everything in a clear and professional way. There's one more functionality I think that woud be worth to add to a local multiplayer, a feature that could keep the players characters movement restricted to the camera bounds as we see in some cooperative games. Again, thanks for sharing.

To all the C++ "elitists" out there: You ain't got nothin' on C! I absolutely _LOVE_ this tutorial for what it is, but the amount of hoop-jumping and squirming to get anything done in the debunked OOP style is just maddening (purely Epic's fault, not Rob's). It is super unfortunate that Epic doesn't have C bindings for UE. The load times and compile times are just horrendous. I bet we could get an order of magnitude faster, _AT THE LEAST,_ by switching to C. Plus it would be more readable, maintainable, and debuggable. But, such is the cost of legacy code...
I have to say, walking through your thinking as to why you choose certain functions, or why you choose certain classes, is invaluable. It really sets your videos apart from other follow-me-blindly tutorials that end up going in one ear and out the other, so to speak. I care about _why,_ and you understand how important this is. Cheers.
Hello. After rendering, my green character twitches and lags, I checked the clarity of the frames on the green video 30, and the render was 30 frames, I don’t understand anything?
Thanks.

I've been having issues on how to add damage on laser collision. Niagara does not have event hits on collisions so it seems lime is not possible to do with Niagara but it needs to be hacked somehow. Any ideas?
6:50
The difference between methods is that you couldn't use the second one with Blueprint classes, which don't inherit interfaces, but just implement them. This way they just couldn't interact, even if they implement Interact function in their Blueprints properly
My life saved by a video from 3 years ago <3
Great to hear. Why are these videos getting so many views now though? Are you part of a new college class using Unreal or something?
@@DevEnabled Yes but we are the only team that using UE, so i think it's not my school that increase your views. But thank you anyway among hundreds tutorial channels, You and Gorka Games channel are the best UE teachers.
I'm very confused. After dealing with a ton of other weird errors that didn't show up in the tutorial by looking up solutions online, now I can finally get to the first file accessed in the tutorial (around 16:00), but almost every line of code is showing up underlined in red, saying "name followed by '::' must be a class or namespace name," or 'identifier "____" is undefined'. I don't even know how to search up a solution to this, like is Visual Studio just not understanding C++? It looks exactly the same as the tutorial except my path is renamed accordingly, and he has no errors in his. So confused! Can anyone help, if anyone else got this problem? I'm completely stuck. I'm using Unreal Engine 5.4, and Visual Studio 2022 (rider apparently only works for 4.2-4.4 of Unreal Engine now).
I finally just gave up on fixing all the errors and ran it anyways and it seems to be working...? I guess I can just ignore those? Hopefully doesn't cause problems in the future.
I don't understand why declaring functions twice in the .h As UFUNCTIOn and as virtual void. Why? How can I guess?
Your laser beam is generating light and looks thick and full. I appreciate this video is old but I made a laser with the same settings and it doesn't look like that.
God bless You!!!
else statement won't be execute in if(bHit) Block, it must be under it
Why you write this else statement and it will Never Execute Because Interactable object will always Valid as it in bHit boolean Condition?! /* else { GEngine->AddOnScreenDebugMessage(-1, 5.f, FColor::Red, TEXT("Else")); if (FocusedActor) { IMyInterface* Interface = Cast<IMyInterface>(FocusedActor); if (Interface) { Interface->Execute_EndFocus(FocusedActor); } } FocusedActor = nullptr; } */
Hey Yall! Im kinda stuck at the moment, ive been following the tutorial to the tee. But i cannot get my players movements and camera controller to work. The spawning itself works great. if you have any suggestions that would be fantastic!
Dang this is such a nice tutorial
Has this been edited retroactively to say UE5? Because the video appears to be EU4 based on paths.
Sorry, not too sure what you mean. Nothing has been edited out or altered, I try to keep 100% of the process so people can easily follow along.
This was really cool and helpful. I'm experimenting with this type of mechanic in my game. I want the player to always have 1 as their time dilation (so that they're not ever slow, just everything else is), and I also want object's time dilation to scale with the player's speed, and not just full speed or very slow. To do this, I made an additional modification where I calculate the player's movement speed, then divide it by 600 (the max their speed can be from just running) and use that for the first value of the select float of the time dilation value. This lets the speed exceed 1x if they're flying from the launcher, or be below 1x if they're just walking, or be right at 1x if they're running full speed. Then I divide 1 by the global time dilation and set my player's custom time dilation to that value, so that the player's total time dilation between the global and custom always makes 1. Thank you for giving me a great jumping off point to solve this.
Hey ! do you have the project somewhere ?
For 1player games this tutorial has everything. Very similar to what I've used. Now I'm trying to get player controller 2 to work on the menu as well but I think keyboard focus is only good for player 1 in Unreal.
running in a whole lot of trouble at the nodes part because in unreal 5 the nodes are totally diffrent.
Thank you I finally made it work! I was trying to do this on the constructor but that crashes the engine
This is the most concise tutorial on this topic available out there. Thank you!
Hey, are you made Serious Sam Advance on GBA or not? I cant find some secrets.
Seeing both sides of the coin with C++ and Blueprints is extremely helpful. Thanks!
tysm for this series!
Legend thank you for this tutorial XD
xd is not a american word i confirm this because i live in latam and sorry for my bad english
First of all thanks for the video. Secondly I would like to note how much I hate what they have done to the documentation. It's basically 100% useless now. The delegate signature isn't even available from the documentation anymore and I had to find it in the Source Code.
Thank you so much for this!
If your random cubes look squashed in the z direction, it's because they inherit from the static mesh which has the XYZ ratio of (1, 1, 0.1). To resolve this when following the video, you need to set the XYZ scale to (0.1, 0.1, 1). DevEnabled commented on Amir-zi1hj to say it's not needed later on, but if you want to see similar results to those in the video, you can adjust the scale for now to get cubes and not flattened boxes.
Great series. Really enjoying these. For anyone else who gets stuck where I did, MinXY and MaxXY need to be adjusted, because mine were both set to 0.0 so I couldn't see my towers. This confused me for a while.
perfect. simple and easy to follow. thanks
Thank you!!! another important step learned!!!!!
YOOOOO you have no idea how much I appreciate this tutorial. I was doing a whole jump counter through a float variable process with increments after jump was pressed and resetting it back to 0 when landed. THIS is so much easier and works 100 times better, so thank you for this. Wish I could have liked it 20 times.
Great to hear it helped. It's a very complex, feature-rich system.
